We are excited to announce that Motionblinds now works with Homey, one of the most open and capable smart home platforms around. As of today, your shades live in the same app as your lights, your climate, and your security. One home. One routine. One tap.

Some integrations just make sense. Motionblinds and Homey both support Matter and Thread, the open standards the smart home industry is converging around. Connecting them was less a technical challenge and more an obvious next step.

A platform worth knowing

Homey is built by Athom, a Dutch company founded in 2014, now part of LG Electronics. The platform has only gathered speed since. Today, Homey brings together more than 70,000 devices from over 1,500 brands in a single app, spanning lighting, climate, security, and now Motionblinds.

It runs automations locally, so your routines keep going even when the internet drops. And behind it all is a genuinely passionate community of smart home enthusiasts who actively go looking for the best devices to add. We are glad to be one of them now.

"The best smart home experiences happen when great products work better together. Motionblinds has built an impressive portfolio of smart window coverings for every home and every installation, and we’re excited that every Motionblinds motor now integrates seamlessly with Homey. It’s another step towards giving our users the freedom to choose the products they love without compromise."

Three ways to connect

There are three paths into Homey, and the right one depends on your motor.

Eve Motionblinds motors have Matter and Thread built directly in. They connect to Homey Pro, Homey Pro mini, and Homey Self-Hosted Server without a Motionblinds Bridge, joining a local Thread mesh network that stays responsive even when the internet is down. Setup happens entirely inside the Homey app.

Most Motionblinds motors connect through the Motionblinds Matter Wi-Fi Bridge over your home Wi-Fi. Motionblinds Wi-Fi bridges also connect directly via a local API — communicating over your local network without needing an internet connection. Same app, same experience, no complicated configuration.

The integration works with Homey Pro, Homey Pro mini, and Homey Self-Hosted Server. Either way, once your shades are in Homey, they are fully in.

What your home can do now

Once your blinds are part of Homey, they stop being something you operate and start being something your home handles for you.

Build a morning Flow that lifts the shades, turns on the lights, and brings the thermostat up to temperature. Set south-facing blinds to close automatically when indoor temperature climbs. Create an evening Flow that pulls everything down, dims the lights, and locks the door in one tap. Prefer to ask out loud? Homey supports voice control through Siri, Google Assistant, and Amazon Alexa.

Window coverings have too often been the one device sitting outside the loop, managed in a separate app and left out of every routine. That changes today.

"Homey users already have their home working for them — lights that respond to presence, heating that adjusts automatically. With Motionblinds, their window coverings join that story. We're proud to bring professional-grade motorized shading into one of the most versatile smart home platforms out there. That's a powerful position for users and every dealer in our global network alike."

One platform more, every platform ready

Homey joins a growing list of platforms Motionblinds already works with: Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings, and Home Assistant, all via Matter.

That list will keep growing. The smart home industry is converging around Matter and Thread, and Motionblinds is built on those standards from the ground up. Every new platform that adopts them is a platform Motionblinds is ready for, without workarounds or retrofit compatibility.

Pick the platform you love. Motionblinds is ready for it.

FAQ - Does Motionblinds work with Homey?

Yes. Motionblinds works with Homey, including Homey Pro and Homey Pro mini. Once connected, you control your shades directly in the Homey app alongside your lights, climate, and security.

There are three ways to connect, depending on your motor. Eve Motionblinds motors connect directly to Homey Pro and Homey Pro mini using Matter over Thread, with no bridge required. Other Motionblinds motors connect via the Motionblinds Matter Wi-Fi Bridge over Wi-Fi, or via a local API through a Motionblinds Wi-Fi bridge. Setup is completed in the Homey app.

Only for standard motors. Eve Motionblinds has Matter and Thread built into the motor, so it needs no Motionblinds Bridge. All other Motionblinds motors connect to Homey through the Motionblinds Matter Wi-Fi Bridge.

Eve Motionblinds connects directly over Matter and Thread and runs on a local mesh that keeps working during an internet outage. The Motionblinds Matter Wi-Fi Bridge brings standard Motionblinds motors into Homey over your home Wi-Fi. Choose Eve Motionblinds for a future-proof, local-first setup, or the Bridge to connect your existing Motionblinds motors.

Yes. Your shades can run inside Homey Flows, so they can open at sunrise, close as the afternoon heat builds, or join a full morning or evening scene with your lights and climate.

Yes. Homey supports voice control through Siri, Google Assistant, and Amazon Alexa, so you can open or close your Motionblinds shades hands-free.

Eve Motionblinds runs on a local Thread mesh, so it keeps responding during an internet outage, and Homey Pro itself is a local-first hub. Remote access from outside your home does require an internet connection.

Motionblinds offers motors for roller, double roller, honeycomb, pleated, roman, venetian, vertical, and curtain systems, and the Motionblinds Upgrade Kit retrofits most standard roller blind tubes.

Motionblinds works with Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings, and Home Assistant, all via Matter.

Yes. Motionblinds is built on the same open standards Homey is built around, Matter and Thread, so the two connect easily and stay compatible as the smart home evolves. For Homey owners who want motorized shades that fit straight into their existing setup, Motionblinds is a strong, future-ready choice.
