General – Frequently asked questions

Smart blinds, also known as motorized shades, use a built-in motor to open, close, or adjust your window coverings automatically. You can control them by app, remote, voice assistant, or automation. Many Motionblinds models also include manual control and programming buttons, allowing easy operation even without an internet connection, or for those who prefer hands-on control.

Motionblinds is our smart technology for automated window coverings. Unlike traditional blinds that rely on operating cords or chains, Motionblinds use quiet motors with Matter, Thread, Bluetooth, and RF 433MHz technology for simple, secure, and connected control.

Product & features - frequently asked questions

Motionblinds offers USB-C rechargeable battery motors and wired motors for both the home market and commercial projects. Most homeowners choose battery motors because of their easy installation without wires.

See our Ease of Use page for more information on installation.

Motionblinds' rechargeable batteries only need to be charged a few times a year on average, depending on the size of the blind, the weight of the fabric and usage.

A full charge takes about 6-8 hours. While charging, the window coverings continue to operate as usual.

Motionblinds motors are designed for long life and tested to perform reliably for years - often more than a decade of daily use.

If the battery runs down, the blind stops moving and stays in its current position until the battery is recharged. Once recharged, the blind will work as usual.
