Motionblinds at CES 2026
Where silence met the smart home future
Just like last year’s trip to Las Vegas, our Motionblinds team – Roy Ebbekink (Product Marketing Specialist), Jerry Wansing (Smart Home Engineer) and Celine Odding (AI Engineer) - once again joined Team Americas members Andrea Guadalupe and Valeria Cedeno (Sales) at CES 2026, the world’s biggest stage for innovation. With 148,000+ attendees, 4,100+ exhibitors and 6,900+ global media, CES proved again why it’s the beating heart of smart home progress.
And yes… this year was wild.
Robots everywhere.
Matter everywhere.
And smart shading more relevant than ever.
Let’s take you through our highlights.
AI robots took over - literally
If CES 2026 had a theme, it was simple: robots are becoming our new housemates.
They danced, played tennis, boxed, carried groceries – and sometimes fell over (nobody’s perfect). LG even introduced CLOiD, a humanoid AI robot capable of managing laundry, prepping food and tidying the home – a true crowd magnet.
But what mattered most to us: Robots that can interact with smart home ecosystems, including smart appliances and – yes – even devices like Motionblinds.
Will we all live with humanoid robots soon? Probably not. But will our homes seamlessly automate around us through connected devices and AI.
That future is already here.
Absolute silence steals the spotlight
We didn’t fly to Vegas just to watch robots take over the ballroom.
On the eve of the show, Motionblinds took the stage at Pepcom Digital Experience!, the exclusive media‑only preview event. It was the perfect place to debut our latest patented innovation: Absolute Silence.
Up to 15 dB quieter.
Acoustically tuned motors.
Vibration‑isolating components.
Intelligent motor software.
A completely re‑engineered experience for smart shading.
And the response? Overwhelming.
Smart home journalists, creators and influencers absolutely loved it – many of them already experiencing smart motorized shading in their homes. One thing is clear:
People don’t want to live without smart window coverings anymore.
Matter + Thread everywhere on the show floor
Across CES, anything smart home‑related had one thing in common: Matter is everywhere.
Thanks to Matter, device makers can focus on innovation instead of building one-on-one integrations. For homeowners, that means more devices can work together across platforms, with less setup and fewer compatibility questions.
Matter milestone this year: the release of Matter 1.5 introducing support for cameras.
Brands like Aqara showcased the first Matter-compatible models, including their new G350 dual-lens indoor camera – demonstrating exactly how fast the ecosystem is expanding.
One highlight stood out: Motionblinds x Nordic x Yale. Right in the center of the Smart Home Hall at The Venetian, Nordic Semiconductor showcased our Motionblinds roller shade with Absolute Silence running directly over Matter and Thread, paired with a Yale smart lock.
Quiet shading that works in sync with secure access control: A powerful glimpse at the future of connected living.
Meeting the platforms & alliances
CES is about more than show floor booths - it’s also an industry-wide reunion.
We joined meetups and networking events hosted by smart home leaders, including:
Home Assistant
One of the fastest-growing platforms in the world. Motionblinds became the first smart shading brand officially certified under Works with Home Assistant in 2025 – and the momentum is only growing.
Thread Group
At their networking event, one of our recent commercial projects stole the spotlight: A school deploying 240+ Motionblinds wired motors as Thread mesh extenders, strengthening the building’s connectivity.
This community of engineers and ecosystem builders continues to push boundaries – and we’re proud to be part of it.
Smart shading goes mainstream
From CES 2023, where Motionblinds first made headlines as a CES Innovation Award Honoree, to today – the transformation is remarkable.
Matter and Thread have gone from “emerging standards” to global expectations.
And smart window coverings have shifted from “nice to have” to a core category in smart homes and buildings.
Motionblinds is ready.
With a complete portfolio of battery-powered and wired motors for every window covering type – and growing collaboration with partners, retailers and platforms – we're accelerating toward our vision:
To be the global leader in interior motorized window coverings and the front-runner in AI by 2030.
Let’s get smart.
Let’s get connected.
And yes… let’s get quiet.
FAQ - CES 2026
Absolute Silence is Motionblinds’ patented quiet motor technology, engineered to reduce sound and vibration in motorized window coverings.
Absolute Silence can make motorized shading up to 15 dB quieter, through acoustically tuned motors, vibration isolating components, and intelligent motor software.
At CES 2026, Motionblinds showcased Absolute Silence in a roller shade. Availability across other window covering types depends on the motor and product configuration.
Quieter motorized window coverings make smart shading more comfortable in everyday moments, especially in bedrooms, nurseries, living areas, and open plan homes where sound is noticeable.
Matter is a smart home connectivity standard designed to help devices work together across platforms, so homeowners can combine compatible products with fewer integration steps.
Thread is a low power, reliable wireless networking technology used in smart homes. It helps compatible devices communicate consistently, even as the number of connected products grows.
Motionblinds showcased a roller shade running directly over Matter and Thread at CES 2026. This demonstrates how smart shading can be part of a connected ecosystem with cross-platform compatibility and reliable networking.
Motionblinds, Nordic Semiconductor, and Yale demonstrated a connected living scenario at CES 2026. A Motionblinds roller shade ran over Matter and Thread alongside a Yale smart lock, showing how shading and access control can work together in routines.
Yes. Motionblinds is officially certified under Works with Home Assistant.
Smart shading is moving from a nice-to-have to a core smart home category because it affects comfort, privacy, energy management, and daily routines. With standards like Matter and networks like Thread, smart shading can also integrate more smoothly with other connected devices.
