At Motionblinds, innovation is at the core of everything we do. That’s why the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025 in Las Vegas was a must-visit event for our team. Known as the ultimate stage for smart home technology, CES 2025 brought together 4,500+ exhibitors, 141,000 attendees, and 6,000 media professionals, showcasing the innovations shaping the future of technology and connected living. From January 7–9, our team—Roy Ebbekink (Product Marketing Specialist), Jerry Wansing (Smart Home Engineer), and Celine Odding (AI Engineer)—explored the most exciting advancements in the tech industry. Here’s what inspired us most.

AI was the undisputed star of CES 2025. Everywhere we turned, we saw how AI is transforming smart living, from robot vacuums and smart fridges to washing machines, electric vehicles, and energy management systems. These devices are evolving beyond simple automation into intuitive, predictive and personalized systems that adapt to your lifestyle.
Imagine a smart home where you no longer need to program routines or scenes. Instead, your AI assistant learns your habits, anticipates your needs, and makes suggestions to enhance your day. Whether it’s adjusting the lighting, preparing the home for your arrival, or optimizing energy use, AI is taking convenience to the next level. It’s not just about technology—it’s about creating personalized experiences that feel seamless and effortless.
LG Stole the Show with AI-Driven Living
One of the most memorable booths at CES was LG’s immersive display, which brought their vision of the AI-driven home to life. Their tagline, ‘Life’s Good 24/7 with Affectionate Intelligence,’ perfectly captured the potential of AI to elevate daily living. Visitors explored this via an engaging miniature AI Home, showcasing how LG’s on-device AI makes mornings more comfortable and efficient by proactively understanding and responding to user needs.
The LG Signature Refrigerator with a transparent OLED door panel stood out as it keeps track of its contents and can present meal suggestions.
Another highlight was the integration between LG's smart home platform ThinQ and Homey, which is owned by LG, and works with Motionblinds. LG appliance integration with Homey allows users to set up automations like closing Motionblinds curtains when the LG TV turns on after 8pm.
Matter and Thread: The Future of Interoperability
A major theme at CES 2025 was interoperability, and Matter and Thread emerged as the foundational standards for the smart home ecosystem. At the Nordic Semiconductor booth, we saw a live demonstration of Matter over Thread using our very own Eve Motionblinds. The smart roller shade was controlled directly from the new generation of iPhones which, like Eve Motionblinds, has Thread on board allowing for direct control without a border router.

Seeing Eve Motionblinds featured at CES, following its 2023 CES Innovation Award win, reinforced our position as a leader in smart shading solutions.
Beyond the Home: Smarter Cars, Helicopters, and More
Smart technology isn’t confined to homes—it’s extending into mobility and beyond. At CES, Samsung’s SmartThings showcased how smart platforms can connect not just homes but also cars, buildings, and even ships. Imagine your car preparing your home for your arrival or your home managing your car’s energy use—it’s a vision of seamless integration.
One standout was Honda’s ASIMO OS, featured in their O Series cars. This advanced operating system includes ‘eyes-off’ functionality and is a result of decades of robotics innovation. Honda also introduced a Home Energy Management System, connecting energy networks to cars, appliances, and homes for optimal efficiency.
For something truly futuristic, the Xpeng flying car was a showstopper. The Land Aircraft Carrier with a built-in eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing), this innovation pushes the boundaries of what mobility can achieve.

CES 2025 highlighted the convergence of robotics and health-focused technology. We saw robots evolving into multifunctional tools, like the Roborock vacuum cleaner, now equipped with an arm to pick up objects, or the SwitchBot cleaner, which doubles as an air purifier.
Health and well-being are clearly becoming central themes in the evolution of smart living. Many devices were shown such as smart rings for sleep and health tracking, and innovations like glucose-monitoring devices that offer non-invasive insights.
The PSYONIC Ability Hand showcased groundbreaking advancements in bionic technology, while NVIDIA’s Agentic AI demonstrated impressive robotics applications.
