What is Control4?
Control4 is a professional smart home and building automation platform developed by Snap One. It is designed for installation by certified dealers and integrators, and is used in high-end residential properties, multi-dwelling units (MDUs), and commercial buildings worldwide. Control4 OS 3 is the current operating system, integrating lighting, climate, security, entertainment, and motorized window coverings into a single unified system.
Control4 supports third-party device integration through a driver-based architecture. Drivers are software modules that allow Control4 to communicate with and control devices from other manufacturers — including Motionblinds motors — without custom programming. The Motionblinds driver for Control4 is developed by Intrinsic Dev and enables full control of Motionblinds motors through the Control4 interface.

Yes. Motionblinds motors integrate with Control4 via three methods: (1) the Motionblinds driver for Control4, developed by Intrinsic Dev, which controls Bluetooth and 433MHz RF motors via a Motionblinds Wi-Fi bridge over the local API; (2) Dry Contact integration via blind actuators; and (3) mechanical motor control via shutter switches or blind actuators.
The Motionblinds driver for Control4 is a software module developed by Intrinsic Dev that enables Control4 to communicate with and control Motionblinds motors through the Motionblinds local API. The driver is installed alongside a Motionblinds Wi-Fi bridge (CM-55, CM-20, or CMD-01) and makes all connected motors available in the Control4 interface for scenes, schedules, and automations.

The Motionblinds driver for Control4 supports the CM-55, CM-20, and CMD-01 Wi-Fi bridges. Each bridge connects to the local network and allows Control4 to control all Motionblinds motors connected to that bridge via the Motionblinds local API.
Yes. The Motionblinds driver communicates with the Wi-Fi bridge over the local network via the Motionblinds local API. No cloud connection is required. Motors remain fully controllable through Control4 even when there is no active internet connection.
Control4 supports three types of Motionblinds motor integration: (1) Bluetooth and 433MHz RF motors connected via a Motionblinds Wi-Fi bridge and the Motionblinds driver; (2) motors with Dry Contact technology, controlled via blind actuators or relay outputs; (3) mechanical 230V AC motors, controlled via shutter switches or blind actuators.
Dry Contact is a wired control interface on certain Motionblinds motors. It allows the motor to be triggered by a relay output, blind actuator, or switch — without requiring Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or any smart home protocol. Motionblinds Dry Contact motors support four modes: mechanical mode, pulse mode, pulse mode with stop, and single button mode.
Motionblinds RF motors controlled via the Motionblinds driver support precise percentage-based positioning. Mechanical motors controlled via shutter switches or blind actuators support intermediate stops by time, but cannot be positioned by precise percentage — the motor runs for a set duration rather than to a measured position.
Control4 installations are carried out by certified Control4 dealers and integrators. The Motionblinds driver for Control4 is installed and configured by the dealer as part of the Control4 system setup.
