With Motionblinds and Shelly, you can equip your window treatments with smart, motorized control using Shelly’s relays and roller shutter controllers. Connect a Shelly device to your Motionblinds motor and control your blinds via the Shelly app, or connect via Z-Wave or Zigbee to integrate them into the smart home hub you’re already using.

What is Shelly?
Shelly is a European smart home brand known for its compact relays, switches, and specialized roller shutter controllers that connect via Wi-Fi, Z-Wave, or Zigbee. Shelly devices are designed to operate locally and are widely used by installers and DIYers working on smart homes to equip existing motors with reliable, automated control—no separate Motionblinds bridge is required.
Control via the Shelly app
Motionblinds' mechanical motors can be connected directly to a Shelly device via the motor's up and down cables. Compatible devices include the Shelly 2PM Gen3 / Gen4, Shelly Shutter, Shelly Pro 2PM, and Shelly Pro Dual Cover / Shutter PM. Once the connection is complete, you can control your blinds via the Shelly app, which allows you to open, close, and set them to a specific position, as well as set schedules and scenes.
Z-Wave
In homes equipped with a Z-Wave smart home system, the Shelly Wave Pro Shutter (LR) or Shelly Wave Shutter (LR) connects to the mechanical motor of your Motionblinds via the same wired up-and-down cable connection. The Shelly device then connects wirelessly to your Z-Wave control system, allowing your blinds to be controlled and automated alongside your other Z-Wave devices.
Zigbee
If your smart home runs on Zigbee, the Shelly 2PM Gen4 connects directly to the mechanical motor of your Motionblinds via the up and down cables and connects wirelessly to your Zigbee control system. This makes your blinds part of the same Zigbee network as your other connected devices, allowing you to use them for joint automations and scenes.

Your choice depends on which Shelly device you install. The Shelly 2PM Gen3 / Gen4, Shelly Shutter, Shelly Pro 2PM, and Shelly Pro Dual Cover / Shutter PM work via the Shelly app; the Shelly Wave Pro Shutter (LR) and the Shelly Wave Shutter (LR) work via Z-Wave; and the Shelly 2PM Gen4 also supports Zigbee.
There may be several reasons for this. Quick troubleshooting: Check the wired connections (input and output) on the motor, verify that the Shelly device has a stable connection to your Wi-Fi, Z-Wave, or Zigbee network, and restart the device if necessary. Most of Motionblinds' mechanical motors with cables can be retrofitted with a Shelly device without having to replace the motor itself, using the same wiring for the up and down cables as specified for each connection type.
